Waste Protocols: ESA puts forward IBAA
ESA has proposed that the Environment Agency and WRAP should consider a waste protocol for Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate.
Trade associations were invited to submit potential waste streams by 13 April for evaluation; up to five applications will be selected for waste protocol development during 2007/08, with the results expected to be announced on 20 May.
In its application, ESA made a strong case for the development of a waste protocol for IBAA, highlighting the material’s marketability and suitability for a number of aggregate applications in place of virgin materials, and its ability to meet a number of EN and BS standards and specifications.
