ESA Annual Report 2008 Published

ESA has today (Wednesday 16 July 2008) published its Annual Report 2008 featuring details of ESA’s recent work in areas including regulation, health and safety, training and workforce development, and environmental performance.
The Annual Report also features a Chairman’s Statement from Per-Anders Hjort (Chairman 2006-07) and Chief Executive, Dirk Hazell.

In his statement, Mr Hazell argues that the Government has begun to demonstrate leadership and has make decisions with lasting impact: the revised Waste Strategy for England and the associated rise in landfill tax evidence the importance of governmental policy drivers in shaping the market in waste management services, but that further work is required, particularly as operators continue to be frustrated by the difficulty in obtaining planning permission for facilities.
