The Scottish Environmental Services Association (SESA) is the sectoral trade association representing Scotland's managers of waste and secondary resources.

We work with the Scottish Parliament, Scottish Government, local authorities and regulators to make Scotland's economy and environment more sustainable by further increasing recycling and improving the management of resources in waste.

Delivery of vital recycling and waste recovery infrastructure requires Scotland's policy makers to provide an enabling policy framework which:
  • speeds up the planning process;
  • sets targets for green public procurement;
  • aligns waste and energy policy;
  • unlocks private sector investment; and
  • equips SEPA to target illegal waste operations.

Health and Safety

SESA is a Member of SWITCH (Scottish Waste Industry Training, Competency, Health & Safety) which is a multi-partnership forum made up of

organisations across all sectors within the resource management industry. The Forum has two main areas of focus:

  • Health & Safety: Supporting continual improvement in health and safety.
  • Education, Training & Competence: Creating training, learning and development opportunities.

The aim of the Forum is to provide leadership by working collaboratively to raise standards of health and safety, training,

learning and development, and technical competence and to promote the Scottish resource management industry as an attractive career choice.
