Joint ESA/Environment Agency/Energy and Utility Skills Landfill Gas Training Seminar
ESA is holding a further joint training seminar on Landfill Gas Management. The seminar will allow Environment Agency officers and waste industry professionals to train together in order to facillitate a better understanding of the Agency's landfill gas guidance.

The training will be in two parts: - the initial provision and use of a work book. The work book contains a summary of the key elements of the Environment Agency’s landfill gas guidance and poses a number questions designed to encourage delegates to gain a better understanding of the guidance;
- the attendance at the training seminar on 11 June 2007 at the IoD Hub, in Birmingham, at which a range of Agency and industry experts will further explain the principles and implications of the Agency's guidance documents.
The workbook and seminar aim to: Increase understanding of the Agency's landfill gas guidance; Increase competencies of both Agency and industry employees relating to landfill gas; Promote joint training of Agency and industry staff.
Topics will include: Agency and Industry perspectives of the requirements for landfill gas management; Requirements of the Landfill and PPC regulations in relation to landill gas management Requirements of the Agency's Landfill Gas guidance; An understansing of importance of Landfill Gas Trace Components; Practical aspects of Landfill Gas monitoring.
At the end of the seminar delegates will have: - explored the key aspects of the Environment Agency's Landfill Gas Guidance and understood the impact on landfill design, operation and compliance;
- a good understanding of the Landfill Regulations where they impact on landfill gas control and management. The numbers of delegates are restricted to 40 (20 from ESA's Members and 20 from the Agency).
