Landfill Gas Training Seminar

Following the success of previous seminars, ESA, supported by the Environment Agency and Energy and Utility Skills, is running a further Landfill Gas Training seminar aimed at ESA's Members and Environment Agency officers.

The training seminar has been designed to train both Environment Agency and waste industry professionals together in order to facilitate a better understanding between the regulator and regulated of the issues raised by the Agency's landfill gas guidance.

Training will again be provided by C&P Environmental in two parts:
- the initial provision and use of the Resource Book and a Work Book to be completed by delegates prior to the course; 
- the attendance at the seminar on 15 May 2008 at which a range of Agency and industry experts will further explain the principles and implications of the Agency's guidance documents.
 

The Resource Book is a summary of the key elements of the Environment Agency's suite of guidance and is cross referenced to the different Environment Agency Guidance documents.

The Work Book poses a number of questions designed to encourage delegates to gain a better understanding of the Agency's Landfill Gas Guidance and should be completed prior to the seminar.

During the seminar, group discussions will take place to review the candidates' answers to the questions posed.
 

 The workbook and seminar aim to: 
 - increase understanding of the Agency's Landfill Gas Guidance;- increase competencies of both Agency and industry employees relating to Landfill Gas;
- promote joint training of Agency and industry staff. 

 Topics will include:
 -          Requirements of the Landfill and PPC regulations;
 -          Requirements of the Agency's Landfill Gas guidance;
 -          Landfill Gas Trace Components;
 -          Landfill Gas monitoring.

At the end of the seminar delegates will have:
- a good understanding of the Landfill Regulations where they impact on landfill gas control and management;
- explored the key aspects of the Environment Agency's Landfill Gas Guidance and understood the impact on landfill design, operation and compliance.

The numbers of delegates are restricted to 40 (20 from ESA and 20 from the Agency.
