Meeting the Agricultural Waste Challenge
ESA Briefing Tuesday 3 December 2002
The introduction of waste management controls for agricultural waste in 2003 sets an important challenge for the UK. ESA held a half-day seminar to examine possible ways in which we can meet the challenge.
Around one million tonnes of non-natural wastes arise in the agricultural sector every year. Significant changes to current management methods are likely to be required in order to meet the requirements of the new regulations and to manage these wastes in an environmentally responsible way.
"Meeting the Agricultural Waste Challenge" provided an important opportunity to consider the current situation and practice and hear about possible practical ways of meeting the challenge of managing these wastes. More than a simple briefing session, the seminar provided an important forum for discussion and debate among speakers and delegates.
