Proposals to Set Targets for Recycled Content in Public Sector Procurement
The Scottish Executive consulted on whether public bodies should specify recycled content when letting contracts. Given that public sector procurement accounts for 30-50% of expenditure in Scotland, SESA suggested realistic targets should be set for recyclates in contracts and that performance against these targets should be used as indicators of sustainable consumption and production.
SESA agreed targets should be set against paper and construction applications and suggested the Scottish Executive also considers targets for glass and compost. SESA Response
