Statutory Guidance on Planning and Sustainable Development
Guidance has been developed to assist the development of the National Planning Framework in contributing to the government’s goal of sustainable development. It describes the main principles of sustainable development and provides specific guidance on how planning and development plans can contribute to this objective and address climate change.
In order to achieve the twin goals of landfill diversion and reducing CO2 emissions, SESA urges the Scottish Executive to align energy and waste management policy – supported by a robust planning system - to increase the amount of energy extracted from waste.
