Scottish Climate Change Bill
The aim of the proposed Scottish Climate Change Bill will be to establish a framework to drive a reduction in Scotland’s greenhouse gas emissions. The Bill will create mandatory climate change targets to reduce Scotland’s emissions by 80% by 2050 and will create the new legislative means to do so. The consultation sets out points for debate to inform the Scottish’s Government preparation of a Climate Change Bill and proposed interim targets over the next 40 years. The Bill is expected to be drafted and laid before the Scottish Parliament by the end of 2008.
