Proposed pollution prevention and control changes increase for 2006/07and 2007/08

SEPA issued a consultation on proposals to increase charges under the PPC regime.  It was SEPA’s intention to increase subsistence charges by 7.7% from April 2006, and then again in 2007. Charges for new applications would increase by 2.7%.

SESA supported SEPA’s aim for the full recovery of costs associated with regulated activities and called for SEPA to consider how administrative burdens on the industry could be reduced through a more effective proportional and risk-based approach to enforcement in Scotland.
