SPP10: Planning for waste management
The Scottish Executive has issued a consultation on proposed changes to the existing policy guidance on planning for waste management. SPP10 replaces NPPG10 and aims to support planning authorities in the identification of suitable locations for waste management facilities, as required to deliver the necessary waste management capacity in compliance with EU waste law.
SPP10 supports both a plan-led approach to the identification of sites for installations using a range of technologies, and a greater role for community engagement.
