In October 2000 WESA was launched at the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff by Ms Sue Essex AM, Secretary for the Environment. Those attending the launch included industry leaders as well as leading officials and regulators.
Devolution brings Wales many rights and responsibilities and WESA is the vehicle for the waste management industry in Wales to work in partnership with the Executive - and others - to implement the requirements of European Directives, work on the development of the Welsh National Waste Strategy and meet other challenges.
