Means of Disposal for municipal, industrial and commercial waste
It is estimated that between 103 million tonnes of waste are produced each year in the UK by households, commerce and industry (excluding including construction and demolition wastes).
Commercial businesses reuse or recycle around 42% of their waste, while industrial businesses recycle approximately 47% (according to the latest survey figures)
27% of household waste is recycled or composted, a quadrupling since 1997. A further 8% is used in energy from waste facilities.
